Politics is more confusing than ever and it can be pretty hard to know what each political party is offering- especially as a young person. We know you don’t have time in between working or studying for exams to be reading through shit tonnes of pages.
But as a young person, your opinion matters- massively. So to give you a hand, here’s Naked Politics’ election breakdown. We’ve broken down each party’s manifesto to rank each party in terms of how positive we think they would be for young people.
Here’s how we’ve coded our breakdown:
We’ve looked at key areas like Brexit, climate change and education and assessed this according to the policies young people generally favour and those that stand to benefit young people the most.
After scoring each party on these areas, we reckon the best party for young people to vote for in this election is The Labour Party. They want to spend more on public services, tackle climate change, would reverse tuition fees and any student debt and they want 16 and 17 year olds to vote.
Close in second is the Green Party who have a pretty ambitious plan of more money for public services and tackling climate change.
The Conservatives and Liberal Democrat’s we thought were pretty uninspiring and offered not much at all for young people.
And the brexit party, erm yeah let’s not even go there.
We’ll also be releasing more detailed breakdown pieces on each parties’ manifesto tomorrow so you can get as much information as possible on what each party stands for and make an informed decision at this year’s election, regardless of how we’ve recommended you vote!
